Chrysler recalls over 315,000 pickups which include Dodge Ram models


Chrysler is recalling more than 315,000 of its pickup trucks due to a potentially deadly safety issue with the braking system, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is reporting.

Federal safety regulators published the recall after learning that Hydraulic Control Units installed on some of the automaker’s vehicles may fail.

A loss of anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, or traction control can increase the risk of a crash, according to the NHTSA.

What models are affected?

The recall affects the following vehicle makes and models:

  • Dodge Ram 2500/2017-2018
  • Dodge Ram 3500/2017-2018
  • Dodge Ram 4500/2017-2018
  • Dodge Ram /5500/2017-2018

What should I do if my Chrysler is recalled?

Dealers will replace the HCU free of charge, federal safety regulators said.

Notification letters are expected to be mailed to owners on or about Jan. 9.
