Columbus Council Throws Support Behind Small Business Development Grant Opportunity

(Columbus) The Columbus Council approved a resolution to support a small business development grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. If awarded, the grant would provide an opportunity for the city to create their own program to assist with business creation, retention, and expansion.

The municipality’s proposed Façade Plus program would provide matching grants up to $50,000. It is designed to run like the existing program but will focus on downtown and allow for other improvements to buildings beyond facades including interior alterations, safety, accessibility, and utilities.

It will focus its resources on revitalizing downtown and assist in making a positive impactful change for the city.
