A Kentucky Kingdom Theme and Water Park revealed a Christmas surprise Wednesday that park visitors can look forward to this spring.

The Louisville theme park will open a new “family-themed land” starting in May 2025, park officials announced in a news release. The $11 million area will feature new rides, attractions and dining options along with themes that showcase the park’s Kentucky roots.

Park officials said they’re opening three all-new family friendly rides as part of the new area, and 10 pre-existing rides will be revamped with a “Kentucky twist.”

The park will also get a new 4,800-square-foot playground and two reimagined dining locations serving local favorites.

Officials didn’t share additional information about the changes, though details about the three new rides will be released soon, according to the release.

“As a family-centered park, we’re dedicated to creating spaces that bring loved ones together, and this new land is our way of celebrating our Kentucky roots while offering exciting new experiences for our guests,” Kentucky Kingdom General Manager Sarah Worrell said.

The announcement is the first part of Kentucky Kingdom’s plan to invest $25 million in the park over the next two seasons.

“Our hosts are so excited to share what we have in store for next season, but we also want everyone to know that there is even more on the way for Kentucky Kingdom soon,” Worrell said.
