Football:
FSU is the most valuable football program in the ACC according to The Athletic . The publication ranked the top-25 most valuable football programs in the country and coming in at No. 18 overall and No.1 in the ACC is Florida State at an estimated $867 million.
The Seminoles’ financial future looks better after they settled their dueling lawsuits with the ACC. We can expect Florida State’s revenue to jump by eight figures under the conference’s new uneven distribution model, which tilts TV payouts toward the programs that attract the most viewers. The settlement agreement also set a clear, manageable exit fee for FSU to join the SEC, Big Ten or theoretical super league.
Aside from Notre Dame, every team ranked ahead of FSU is in the B1G or the SEC; would be curious to see where FSU would be with similar TV money…
I fully expect Thomas Castellanos to double-down on his Alabama comments at Media Days this week and I do not have a problem with that trash talk doesn’t determine who wins or loses football games, talent and execution do.
Florida State’s new quarterback went viral for his comments about Alabama in advance of the Seminoles home opener, suggesting that without Nick Saban to “save them,” the Crimson Tide are not the same type of juggernaut they were in the previous decade. The Alabama players heard the message loud and clear, and last week at SEC Media Days said that “disrespect” will be handled on the field. So, will Castellanos double down, clarify or pivot as he’s almost certainly going to be given the opportunity to fire another shot of smack talk across the bow of Florida State’s first opponent in 2025.
A number of guys have made notable weight gains and losses this offseason; you should see a longer, more athletic defensive line this season.
Happy belated Birthday Juice:
It’s not a surprise that with Alabama and Florida on the schedule this year, FSU’s non-conference schedule is considered among the toughest in the country.
Recruiting:
It’s Auburn, FSU, or Ohio State for four-star offensive lineman Da’Ron Parks with a Saturday commitment currently scheduled.
FSU initially offered more than two years ago, and it has remained relatively steady with the big blocker ever since. Auburn jumped in at the beginning of the year and has offered a similar approach.
Each head coach for Auburn and FSU has prioritized this recruitment:
“It’s probably tied between Coach (Mike) Norvell and Coach (Hugh) Freeze,” Parks said of the contact.
All Sports:
A Happy belated Birthday to Director of Operations, Melissa Bruner, as well:
FSU Cross Country has a new Director of Operations:
