Notre Dame offensive lineman Charles Jagusah fractured the humerus bone in his left arm in a UTV accident in Wyoming on July 5, the university said in a statement on July 6.
Jagusah has undergone surgery and the initial prognosis is favorable, according to the school, which added that he will return to campus early this week for “further evaluation and continued care.” No further timeline was provided.
The 6-foot-7, 333-pound sophomore is an expected starter at guard for the Fighting Irish.
Though this incident came far away from the football field, it marks the second consecutive season that Jagusah has suffered a serious injury.
Prior to the start of the 2024 season, the former top-100 recruit tore his right pectoral muscle during training camp. He missed the entire regular season, but returned for Notre Dame’s run in the College Football Playoff, filling in for Rocco Spindler at right guard in a semifinal victory against Penn State and starting at left tackle in a loss to Ohio State in the national championship game.
Though it offers little consolation, Jagusah’s arm will have some time to heal. The Irish’s 2025 season doesn’t begin until Aug. 31, when they travel to Miami to take on a Hurricanes team that has been widely projected as a top-20 squad nationally.
