Michigan’s football program has its first commitment in the 2027 recruiting class.
Saline three-star offensive lineman Louis Esposito, the son of Wolverines defensive line coach Lou Esposito, announced his verbal pledge on Sunday. He chose Michigan over more than a dozen other offers, including power conference programs Purdue, Louisville and Pitt.
Louis received an offer from head coach Sherrone Moore last month following a strong performance at a Michigan-hosted camp. Last year, he began the year as Saline’s starting right tackle before moving to left guard during the season. He is preparing to play left tackle as a junior in 2025.
“It was a dream come true,” Louis told MLive after receiving the offer from Moore. “I’ve been a Michigan fan ever since I was growing up. It was surreal.”
According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, the 6-foot-4, 255-pounder is the No. 510 overall prospect and No. 34 interior offensive lineman nationally. He also is ranked as the No. 9 prospect in the state.
His father is entering his second season on Michigan’s staff and has been arguably the staff’s best recruiter in the 2026 class, which ranks 11th in the country.
