Freddie Wilson is hopping on the Georgia Tech train.

The Spruce Creek defensive lineman announced his college football commitment to the Yellow Jackets with a social media post on July 6. He chose them over fellow finalists Miami and Minnesota.

“Georgia Tech has been a great team throughout the trials and tribulations,” Wilson told The News-Journal last month. “Right now, they’re on the right track. It would be a great thing to hop on the train. GT has a D-line coach (Jess Simpson) that has coached at all levels. He puts guys in the league, and I could potentially be that guy. They’re working on the facilities and the stadium for the Class of 2026, and I know it will look good when it’s done.”

At 6-foot-2 and 265 pounds, Wilson ranks as a three-star recruit. He broke out during his junior season of high school football after transferring from Mainland to Spruce Creek.

Wilson racked up 70 tackles and ranked inside the Volusia-Flagler area’s top 10 with six sacks. His sack total placed him second on the Hawks behind Derry Norris, who signed with Georgia Tech and enrolled early in January.

Wilson’s commitment will reunite him with Norris.

As a senior, Wilson will partner with Duke pledge Chadwicke Cannon and look to continue Spruce Creek’s dominant defensive line play. He is 82nd on the USA TODAY Florida Network’s list of the top 100 prospects in the Class of 2026.
