Top MLB DFS Targets
Pitcher Studs
SP Max Fried (NYY), $9,300: There isn’t much stud value Sunday on a loaded slate. Tarik Skubal, Garrett Crochet, Zack Wheeler, and Fried all take the bump on Sunday. That’s a practical who’s who of Cy Young candidates for this season. The first three all cost five figures for this DFS slate. Fried is the lowest-priced of the four and offers excellent value against a struggling Mets team. Fried has been all the Yankees paid for and more. He can deliver top line value on a slate full of elite starters.
Pitcher Value Plays
SP Drew Rasmussen (TB), $7,500: I love the value plays this Sunday. And that starts with Rasmussen. He’s the best pitcher in baseball that nobody has heard of. Since arriving in Tampa Bay in 2021, Rasmussen has pitched to a 2.73 ERA over 67 starts. Blending an elite fastball with excellent ground ball stuff, he sets up well against an uninspiring Minnesota Twins offense.
SP Edward Cabrera (MIA), $7,200: At one time, the Marlins had one of the most impressive collections of young pitching in the game. While that hasn’t panned out as expected, Edward Cabrera has been on a heater recently. Over his last seven starts, the 27-year-old has a 1.46 ERA with over 20 DFS points per game. While he hasn’t been going super deep into games, he’s racking up the points. Another excellent value play on the board.
SP Tyler Anderson (LAA), $6,500: And now we come to our third value play. Tyler Anderson has a knack for going deep in ball games, and keeping immense damage off the board. He’s pitched five or more innings in 13-of-17 starts this year, and only allowed more than three earned runs in five of 17. If you’re looking to invest elsewhere in your lineup, Anderson can give you a decent return for the second-lowest price on the board.
Infield Studs
1B Bryce Harper (PHI), $5,100: Finally, the former MVP returns. He’s got four games under his belt since returning from a month-long absence. He’s shaking some rust off, but facing a rookie in Chase Burns on his third career start is a great chance for the get-right game. I’m stacking more than one Phillie in this one.
3B Junior Caminero (TB), $5,100: The Tampa Bay Rays have a knack for finding young talent. Junior Caminero just turned 22 on Saturday, and celebrated by picking up his 55th RBI of the season. While he did break his five-game hitting streak, he’s always a good bet to produce. Twins starter Joe Ryan has been quite good this season, but I still like Caminero to set off some fireworks on his birthday weekend.
Infield Value Plays
1B/OF Spencer Steer (CIN), $3,900: On June 17th, Spencer Steer went 0-for-4 to drop his batting average to .220. Since then, he’s scorching hot. Over those 14 games, Steer has a .423/.456/.827 triple slash line. That includes five home runs, four doubles, and a triple. Though Zack Wheeler is on the mound for the Phillies, I love the value here.
2B Xavier Edwards (MIA), $3,800: Xavier Edwards feels like an old-style leadoff hitter. He’s batting .287 at the top of Miami’s order with 82 total hits. Only ten of those have gone for extra bases, and none left the park. He’s got great bat control, steals bases, and takes walks. With the Marlins’ offense performing well, I like Edwards to score once or twice while slapping a few singles around.
Outfield Studs
OF Riley Greene (DET), $5,400: Few players in baseball have been better run producers than Riley Greene this season. He’s sitting on 69 RBIs going into Saturday’s games as the most important hitter in the Tigers’ lineup. That alone brings him value. He has the potential to go off in a big way and carry a lineup. Despite a slump for the past few games, he’s well worth the sticker price.
OF Kyle Schwarber (PHI), $5,300: Schwarber bashed his 27th home run of the season on Saturday. That’s his third extra base hit in the last four games, driving in five RBIs over that stretch. If you don’t want to play Greene for his high potential, Schwarber is the next-best thing against rookie Chase Burns.
Outfield Value Plays
OF Kyle Stowers (MIA), $4,300: Kyle Stowers has quietly been one of the best-hitting outfielders in the National League. Part of the Marlins’ return for Trevor Rogers from the Orioles, he’s been a borderline All-Star and Miami’s best all-around hitter. The Brewers are putting Brandon Woodruff on the mound after a two-year layoff. That could end in disaster as he has a lot of rust to knock off.
OF Jasson Domínguez (NYY), $3,700: The 22-year-old outfielder took an 0-for on Saturday, but the hot streak remains. In the eight-game hitting streak before that, Domínguez was batting .457 with six extra-base hits, seven runs scored, four stolen bags, and six RBI. Blade Tidwell hasn’t exactly held it down on the mound for the Mets in his rookie campaign. Domínguez has explosive potential on the Sunday slate.
