Basketball is back for the Golden State Warriors. On Saturday, the Summer League edition of the Warriors opened Chase Center for the start of the annual California Classic.
The Warriors will play three games at Chase Center for the California Classic, starting with Saturday’s contest against the Los Angeles Lakers.
After a quiet start, the Warriors fell down early, trailing for most of the first half. However, a strong third quarter led by big man Isaiah Mobley propelled the Warriors into the lead.
Warriors two-way forward Jackson Rowe and Blake Hinson combined for 12 points in the fourth quarter to close the Lakers out and secure a 89-84 win in their California Classic opener.
Rowe and Mobley each tallied 13 points to lead the Warriors on Saturday. Rowe added eight boards, two assists and two steals in 28 minutes for the Warriors.
Fellow two-way guard Taran Armstrong tallied seven points on 1-of-5 shooting from the field with six assists and two boards in 25 minutes.
The Warriors were without both 2025 second-round picks Alex Toohey and Will Richard due to their draft day trades not being official. The Lakers were also without Bronny James on Saturday.
Steph Curry was in the building on Saturday at Chase Center to get a look at the Summer League Warriors.
On Sunday, the Warriors will meet the San Antonio Spurs at Chase Center for Game 2 of the California Classic.
