What channel is Monday Night Football on tonight? How to watch

play

The NFL’s Week 16 ends with what, on paper, is one of the biggest mismatches of the year when the New Orleans Saints travel to play a December game in Lambeau Field against the Green Bay Packers.

The 10-4 Packers actually don’t have a lot to play for, as they will be either the second or third wildcard, but they tend to be good in December at Lambeau, and they’ve tended to be good all season this year. The Saints don’t have anything to play for other than improving their draft position with a loss.

That sounds like a rout and the oddsmakers agree. The 14-point spread is the second largest of the year after Baltimore vs. the New York Giants (the Ravens were 16 1/2-point favorites).

Green Bay is -1000 on the moneyline, while New Orleans is +650.

New Orleans Saints injury report

Top running back Alvin Kamara is doubtful, as is quarterback Derek Carr. Carr is more doubtful than Kamara. Defensive end Chase Young and tight end Juwon Johnson are questionable.

Green Bay Packers injury report

Receiver Jaire Alexander is the big issue for the Packers. He practiced through the week, as he did last week when he eventually didn’t play. As huge favorites with a key game against Minnesota coming up, the Packers might sit him out. Linebacker Quay Walker and safety Javon Bullard are questionable.

The El Paso Times: Packers 35, Saints 14

Bret Bloomquist writes: “When this was scheduled long before the season started it looked like a mismatch, as many games at Lambeau Field in December are. As the season has played out, it looks like more of a mismatch now. If the Saints get this into the second half is will be surprising.”

Bookies.com: Bet the under in Saints vs Packers game

Bill Speros writes: “Christmas Eve Eve in Green Bay. We’ll get plenty of cold here. Just give us some snow and a well-lubricated fan base. The 10-4 Packers just keep on winning and are on their way to the playoffs. Albeit as a wildcard. They delivered a dominant performance at Seattle in their 30-13 win and cover Sunday night. The Saints scored and covered on the final play of the game in their 20-19 loss at Washington. But they failed on the two-point conversion. This number is abnormally large, especially on a 42.5-point total. Given the Saints’ lack of offense, the potential for rough weather, and Green Bay’s stout defense, the under is the play here.”

Sports Betting Dime: Packers 27.2, Saints 17.4

Sportsnaut: Packers 27, Saints 17

Matt Johnson writes: “The New Orleans Saints have shown more than enough fight under interim coach Darren Rizzi to believe this won’t be a Monday Night Football blowout. With that said, Josh Jacobs is in a great position for a 100-yard performance against the Saints’ defense and Green Bay shouldn’t have much trouble neutralizing a Spencer Rattler-led offense. The win will clinch a playoff spot for the Packers.”
