2025 Power Four college football training camp dates


College football coaches and players begin training camp on campuses ahead of the season in the next week, with a handful of programs starting up in the coming days in anticipation of Week 1. Teams can practice 25 times over 29 days leading up to their first game of the season.

Seven of the 25 practices must be held with helmets only. Schools traditionally hold a couple of scrimmages before the season opener.

Below is a list of fall camp dates for college football programs in the Power Four. For programs that have not yet announced a formal start date, On3 has listed the earliest possible date practice can begin. This list will be updated as college football fall practices officially begin.

Alabama
Alabama football will start fall camp July 30 ahead of its Aug. 30 season opener at Florida State. The Crimson Tide’s opener is the program’s first on the road since the 2020 college football season against Missouri.

Arizona
Arizona officially begins preparation for its second season under head coach Brent Brennan when the Wildcats kick off fall training camp on Wednesday, July 30. The Wildcats kick off the season on Aug. 30 against Hawaii.

Arizona State
The Sun Devils are set to open camp on July 30th. This year, from Aug. 6 to 9, Arizona State will head to Camp Tontozona in Payson, Arizona. Arizona State returns the core of its Big 12 title team and kicks off the season on Aug. 30 against Northern Arizona.

Arkansas
The Razorbacks are reportedly expected to kick off fall camp on Friday, Aug. 1, giving them the opportunity to hold 25 practices over the span of 29 days leading up to the season-opener against Alabama A&M on Aug. 30. Arkansas can open fall practice beginning July 30.

Auburn
With the earlier start to the college football season, Auburn will begin fall camp before the month of August begins. Hugh Freeze recently said the Tigers will open camp on July 29, exactly one month before Auburn travels to Waco to face Baylor.

Baylor
Baylor is expected to have players report on July 29 and open fall camp on July 30. The Bears host Auburn for a Week 1 matchup on Friday, Aug. 29 at 8 p.m. ET

Boston College
No official date has been announced yet for BC, but the Eagles open up the year on Aug. 30 against Fordham. BC can open up fall camp as early as July 30.

BYU
No official start date has been announced, but the Cougars can open on July 30 ahead of their Week 1 game against Portland State on Aug. 30.

Cal
Check-in for Cal players is July 29, with training camp set to open that week. The Golden Bears open the 2025 season on Aug. 30 against Oregon State in Corvallis.

Cincinnati
Cincinnati opens fall camp on Monday, July 28. The Bearcats have one of the earlier Week 1 start times in college football, scheduled to play Nebraska on Aug. 28 at Arrowhead Stadium.

Clemson
The Tigers have one of the toughest Week 1 tests of the college football season, scheduled to host LSU in Death Valley on Aug. 30. Clemson is scheduled to open up fall camp on July 31.

Colorado
The Buffaloes will start training camp on Monday, July 28, in preparation for their Aug. 29 college football season opener when Georgia Tech visits Boulder.

Duke
A source told On3 that report date for the Blue Devils is scheduled for this weekend with training camp to start shortly after. Duke opens up the season on Thursday, Aug. 28, when Elon visits Wallace Wade Stadium.

Florida
The Florida Gators report for fall training camp during the last week of July, with the team’s first practice set for July 30. The Gators are scheduled to hold their first scrimmage Aug. 9 and the second scrimmage Aug. 16, both on Saturdays. Florida kicks off the 2025 season on Aug. 30 against LIU.

Florida State
No formal start date has been announced, but sources have told On3 that Florida State is expected to open up fall camp on July 30 or July 31. The Seminoles open up the year against Alabama in Tallahassee.

Georgia
The Bulldogs open up the season on Aug. 30 at home against Marshall. No official date has been announced, but a source told On3 that Georgia is expected to open camp the first weekend of August.

Georgia Tech
With a trip to Colorado scheduled for Week 1, the Yellow Jackets will open up camp on July 29.

Houston
No fall camp date has been announced, but the Cougars can open camp on July 28 with an Aug. 28 game against Stephen F. Austin.

Illinois
The Fighting Illini kick off the 2025 season on Aug. 29 against Western Illinois. Illinois will open training camp on Aug. 1.

Indiana
The Hoosiers open fall camp on July 30, a month before their season opens on Aug. 30 with a visit from Old Dominion.

Iowa
The Hawkeyes are scheduled to report to camp on July 29 with first practice slated for July 30. Iowa opens the 2025 season on Aug. 30 against with a vist from Albany.

Iowa State
Iowa State kicks off the 2025 college football season in Week 0 in Dublin against Kansas State. The Cyclones can begin practicing as early as July 23 ahead of their Aug. 23 kickoff across the pond.

Kansas
Another Week 0 kickoff, Kansas will start training camp on July 24. The Jayhawks host Fresno State on Aug. 23 at 6:30 p.m. ET.

Kansas State
With the Wildcats scheduled to play in Week 0 in Dublin against Iowa State, Kansas State has one of the earliest training camp dates. Kansas State reports to campus on Tuesday, July 22, and begin practicing on Wednesday, July 23.

Kentucky
The Wilcats open fall camp on Saturday, Aug. 2. The day also marks Kentucky Football Fan Day, with practice open to fans from approximately 11 a.m. to approximately 12:45 p.m. ET. UK opens up the year on Aug. 30 against Toledo.

Louisville
The Cardinals open up the 2025 season on Aug. 30 when Eastern Kentucky visits. Louisville is scheduled to have players report and open fall camp on July 30.

LSU
The Tigers’ report to camp on July 29, with the first practice of camp set for July 30. LSU opens the season with a top-10 ranked matchup at Clemson on Aug. 30.

Maryland
Mike Locksley has yet to officially announce a start date for fall camp, but the Terrapins can begin as early as July 30. Maryland opens the season with Florida Atlantic visiting College Park.

Miami
The Hurricanes have a tough Week 1 test, hosting preseason consensus top-10 team Notre Dame on Aug. 31. Miami will start camp on July 31.

Michigan
The Wolverines’ report date is scheduled for July 28. Michigan kicks off the season on Aug. 30 against New Mexico, followed by a Week 2 test at Oklahoma.

Michigan State
The Spartans are scheduled to report to East Lansing on July 28 with camp starting shortly after. Michigan State hosts Western Michigan in Week 1.

Minnesota
The Golden Gophers open the 2025 season early, hosting Buffalo on Aug. 28. Minnesota can open fall camp on July 28.

Mississippi State
The Bulldogs will open camp on July 31, ahead of their season opener on Aug. 30 at Southern Miss.

Missouri
Missouri reports for fall camp on Sunday, July 27 and is scheduled to open practice on July 28. The Tigers host Central Arkansas on Aug. 28.

Nebraska
The Cornhuskers open fall camp on Monday, July 28. Nebraska has one of the earlier Week 1 start times, scheduled to play Cincinnati on Aug. 28 at Arrowhead Stadium.

North Carolina
The Tar Heels and Bill Belichick are permitted to open fall camp as early as Aug. 1, a month before their season kicks off on Sept. 1 against TCU.

NC State
The Wolfpack reports to camp on July 28 and officially opens practice on July 30. NC State kicks off the 2025 season on Aug. 28 against East Carolina.

Northwestern
The Wildcats have yet to announce an official start date, but can begin fall camp as early as July 30. Northwestern faces a tough Week 1 test when it travels to Tulane.

Notre Dame
The Fighting Irish kick off the 2025 season on Aug. 31 at Miami, meaning they can start fall camp as early as July 31.

Ohio State
With a top-five preseason matchup on Aug. 30 against Texas, Ohio State can open camp on July 30. The Buckeyes have already announced practices open to the public for July 31, Aug. 1 and Aug. 2.

Oklahoma
The Sooners are set to report to Norman for fall camp on July 30. Oklahoma opens the year against Illinois State on Aug. 30, followed by Michigan visiting in Week 2.

Oklahoma State
The Cowboys open fall camp on July 28, with a Week 1 matchup against UT Martin set for Aug. 28.

Ole Miss
The Rebels report date is set for July 29, followed by camp opening for business on July 30. Ole Miss opens the season on Aug. 30 with Georgia State visiting Oxford.

Oregon
The Ducks have yet to announce a fall camp date, but with a Week 1 game set for Aug. 30 against Montana State, they can start practice as early as July 30.

Penn State
The Nittany Lions begin fall camp on July 30 in anticipation of their season opener on Aug. 30 against Nevada.

Pitt
No formal date has been announced to this point the but Panthers can begin fall camp on July 30 ahead of their Aug. 30 kick against Duquesne.

Purdue
The Boilermakers open the Barry Odom era on Aug. 30 against Ball State. No start date has been set, but Purdue can begin practice on July 30. During the first week of fall camp, fans can get their first look at the 2025 Purdue football team on Saturday, Aug. 2 at Ross-Ade Stadium.

Rutgers
With a Week 1 kickoff scheduled for Aug. 28 against Ohio, the Scarlet Knights have not yet announced a start date but are expected to open camp on July 28 or July 29.

SMU
The Mustangs’ report date is July 29, with camp opening on July 30. SMU opens the 2025 season against East Texas A&M on Aug. 30.

South Carolina
Shane Beamer’s program has not announced a start date, but the Gamecocks can open camp on July 31. South Carolina hosts Virginia Tech in Week 1 on Aug. 31

Stanford
Stanford opens fall camp on July 23, just a day after ACC Media Days. The Cardinal opens a week earlier than usual due to their Aug. 23 matchup with Hawaii.

Syracuse
Syracuse can open fall camp on July 30 ahead of their Week 1 matchup with Tennessee in Atlanta on Aug. 30.

TCU
With a Sept. 1 matchup at North Carolina to open the year, the Horned Frogs can begin fall camp on Aug. 1.

Tennessee
The Volunteers will open fall camp on July 30 ahead of their Week 1 matchup with Syracuse in Atlanta on Aug. 30.

Texas
Texas’ report date for fall camp is scheduled for July 29, with practice officially opening on July 30. The Longhorns visit Ohio State in Week 1.

Texas A&M
The Aggies will open fall camp on July 30 in anticipation of their Week 1 season opener against UTSA on Aug. 30.

Texas Tech
The Red Raiders are expected to open fall camp on July 30, a month before they kick off the season against Arkansas Pine-Bluff.

UCLA
No official start date has been announced, but the Bruins can begin practicing on July 30. UCLA opens the season on Aug. 30 against Utah in a matchup of former Pac-12 teams.

UCF
UCF is scheduled to open fall camp on July 28. The Knights start the 2025 season on Aug. 28 against Jacksonville State.

USC
With Missouri State set to visit Los Angeles on Aug. 30 to open the 2025 season, USC can begin fall practice on July 30. No official start date has been announced.

Utah
The Utes will visit UCLA in Week 1, and can open fall camp as early as July 30.

Vanderbilt
With an Aug. 30 matchup against Charleston Southern, Vanderbilt can start fall camp as early as July 30. No official date has been publicized.

Virginia
The Cavaliers open up fall camp on July 30 ahead of a Week 1 meeting against Coastal Carolina.

Virginia Tech
The Hokies visit South Carolina on Aug. 31 in the Beamer Bowl. Brent Pry’s program can begin fall camp on July 31.

Wake Forest
Wake Forest opens fall camp on July 29 ahead of its season opener against Kennesaw State on Aug. 29.

Washington
The Huskies can begin fall camp on July 30, yet no official start date has been announced. Demond Williams makes his debut as Washington’s full-time starter in Week 1 against Colorado State.

West Virginia
With a Week 1 nonconference game scheduled for Aug. 30 against Robert Morris, West Virginia can open camp on July 30.

Wisconsin
Luke Fickell eyes a bounceback season with a Week 1 matchup against Miami (Ohio) on Aug. 28. The Badgers can open fall camp as early as July 28.
