7Up Zero Sugar Tropical Recalled After Labeling Error

  • The FDA announced a Class II recall of select 7Up Zero Sugar Tropical cans after a labeling error resulted in full-sugar soda being packaged in “Zero Sugar” cans.
  • About 1,950 cases from Buffalo Rock were sent to select retailers in Alabama and Northwest Florida.
  • If you monitor sugar, match your codes and return or discard for a refund or replacement.

If “Zero Sugar” is your automatic grab, take a pause—especially if you picked up 7Up Zero Sugar Tropical. The FDA reports that a labeling error resulted in some cans labeled “Zero Sugar” containing full-sugar soda, and a Class II recall is now in effect.

The manufacturer, Buffalo Rock Company, initiated the recall on July 31, which the FDA classified on August 20. Roughly 1,950 cases were produced by a single bottler and sent to select retailers in Alabama and Northwest Florida, according to Keurig Dr Pepper.

As for how to spot the affected packs, they’re 12-oz cans printed “7Up Zero Sugar Tropical Soda” and sold in 12-pack cartons labeled “7Up Tropical Flavored Soda.” The can UPC is 078000037975, and the carton UPC is 078000037982. Look for lot codes XXXXBR062156 or XXXXBR062256, with a use-by date of March 23, 2026.

If you track sugar for medical reasons, this kind of mix-up can throw off your day. The full-sugar 7Up Tropical has about 38 grams of sugar per can. The FDA’s Class II designation means that issues are expected to be temporary or medically reversible; however, accurate labels are essential when managing intake.

“The safety and quality of our products is our top priority. In line with that commitment, we’re working with one of our bottlers, Buffalo Rock Company, on a voluntary recall of 1,954 cases of 7Up Tropical Regular Sugar,” a representative from Keurig Dr Pepper said to Delish. “Some of these packs may contain cans that are mislabeled as 7Up Tropical Zero Sugar. The impacted cases were produced by this single bottler and distributed to select retailers in Alabama and Northwest Florida. Consumers are encouraged to contact the Keurig Dr Pepper Consumer Care team (866-824-1711) with any questions or concerns.”

If your 12-pack matches those details above, return it to the store for a refund or dispose of it. If you’re not monitoring sugar, there’s no contamination concern—the recall is about a label error, not the safety of the product itself.

Still, if you intended to buy Zero Sugar, you’re entitled to swap it for what you meant to purchase. Bottom line: check your codes so your “zero” stays zero.
