- Blair Kinghorn is in danger of missing the opening Lions Test against Australia
- The Scottish full-back, 28, is set to be replaced by Irishman Jamie Osborne
Blair Kinghorn is in danger of missing the Lions’ opening Test against Australia after suffering a knee injury.
The Scottish full-back will have to sit out of training over the coming days, with Irishman Jamie Osborne flown in to provide cover.
The suspicion is that Kinghorn has suffered an MCL injury which could be a cruel blow to his hopes of making the Test series.
Kinghorn suffered the injury during the Lions victory over the Brumbies on Wednesday, leaving Andy Farrell short on full-back options ahead of the series with the Wallabies.
Elliot Daly has already been forced out of the tour because of a fractured forearm and after calling up playmaker Owen Farrell as his replacement, Kinghorn and Hugo Keenan are left as the only specialist full-backs in the squad. Marcus Smith also provides cover in the position.
‘Blair is in good spirits. He got a bang on the knee, he carried on for quite a bit but there was no need to keep him going,’ coach Farrell said after the match.

‘He’s on the bed now, singing away. There is a bit of music there and he’s singing away as he’s being assessed, so we’ll see how he comes through that.
‘It’s late, we have got an early flight in the morning and I don’t know what the medical plan is, but we will get on top of that.’
