The Detroit Lions have released former Georgia Bulldogs cornerback Divaad Wilson just a few months after signing him. After moving on from Wilson, Detroit signed former Kansas City Chiefs, Carolina Panthers and Los Angeles Chargers cornerback Dicaprio Bootle.
The Lions placed Wilson on injured reserve in June and waived him after reaching an injury settlement. Wilson’s injury is undisclosed.
Wilson played at Georgia from 2018-2019 and will look for a new NFL home as training camp gets underway. Wilson has the versatility to play the slot and on the outside.
Wilson transferred away from Georgia after the 2019 college football season to be closer to home. He spent the 2020-2022 college football seasons at UCF before going undrafted in the 2023 NFL draft. Wilson recorded five interceptions and 123 tackles during three seasons at UCF.
Wilson has appeared in seven games over the first two years of his NFL career. He begin his career with the Arizona Cardinals before joining the New York Giants in 2024. Wilson recorded five tackles in two games with the Cardinals in 2023. He played in five games with the Cardinals and Giants in 2024, but was most impactful in New York where he posted five tackles and a pass deflection.
