Jerry Jones took a jab at Micah Parsons amid Cowboys contract talks

The Dallas Cowboys started reporting to training camp on Monday, and Micah Parsons did show up despite his ongoing contract talks.

And while it’s not uncommon for a player in Parsons’ position to hold out from reporting to camp, it is odd to hear a team owner publicly question that same player’s reliability.

That’s what Jerry Jones did on Monday.

Jones was taking questions about working to sign Parsons — who is in the final year of his contract — and Jones made a point to mention that signing Parsons doesn’t guarantee he’d be available. He also referenced Dak Prescott’s injury after the quarterback’s big contract.

Parsons missed four games last season with a high ankle sprain, but Jones misstated the number of games to make his point. He said six instead of four.

But still, it was an odd remark to make if you’re trying to avoid a contentious negotiation. Parsons did his part by showing up to camp. Why is Jones making those comments in bad faith? Any player can get injured.

That’s not something to use against Parsons who has only missed four games in his career.
