One business in Benton is showcasing the spirit of giving this holiday season by helping families in need of a Christmas tree.
BENTON, Ark. — A business in Benton has been giving away Christmas trees to families who need them this holiday season.
According to owner Liz Miller-Galvond, “Another Season Home and Garden”, formerly known as Cox Family Garden, has been a staple in the town of Benton for more than three decades.
Miller-Galvond has owned the business since May, and she explained how coming back to her home state of Arkansas has been a dream come true so far.
“Benton is one of those last small towns in Arkansas where it is very much family-focused and very down-home and very welcoming,” Miller-Galvond said. “I mean, we feel so embraced by the community. It’s been amazing.”
Another Season sells all kinds of things from like exotic plants or classic garden vegetables in the spring. However, during this time of year, they also sell holiday décor.
“This season, we are going to give away fresh-cut Oregon Christmas trees,” Miller-Galvond said,
You might be wondering how many will they be giving away. Well, 80 of them, to be exact.
Starting on Sunday, December 15, people can come in and take one of the various sizes of Christmas trees that the store has to offer.
“As someone who grew up in Arkansas with pretty limited resources and later became a single mother of three. I understand firsthand the challenges that folks can face, and especially at the holiday time,” she explained.
This is why when the business realized they had some extra trees, their first thought was to help people out. And they’re doing it with no judgment and no questions asked.
The only rule is— if you need a tree, take a tree.
“If you feel like you need a little holiday cheer,” Miller-Galvond said. “You come in and see us during our normal business hours, and we’ll happily send you home with a Christmas tree so you can put a smile on your loved ones’ faces.”
Miller-Galvond did note that those looking to purchase Christmas décor or any other items from Another Season’s selection should do so quickly. The store will close down in January before reopening for the Spring.
However, she said that even when they’re closed, the store has some ideas to keep people coming during the winter months.
“Even though we’re going to be closed, we are going to be hosting some really cool private events,” Miller-Galvond said. “So be on the lookout.”
She encouraged those interested to follow the store’s Facebook page, where they will keep people updated on everything related to the store’s offerings and selection.
