After a defensive battle in the first half of Dowling Catholic vs. Valley in Week 1 of the Iowa high school football season, the Maroons found themselves down 17-10 in the final moments of the third quarter.
Then, on third-and-long and needing a spark, quarterback Joey Nahas turned to new Dowling receiver Jeffrey Roberts, who broke free down the left sideline and caught an 80-yard touchdown.
The score helped the Maroons tie the game 17-17 with 17 seconds remaining before the final quarter.
The senior is an Iowa State football commit who transferred from Ames to Dowling Catholic before the 2025 season.
The future Cyclone tallied 989 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns in 2024.
