New-look Michigan football ready to showcase depth in home opener vs. New Mexico

The Michigan Wolverines are gearing up for their 2025 season/home opener against the New Mexico Lobos.

Kickoff is slated for 7:36 p.m. inside The Big House in Ann Arbor on Saturday (Aug. 30) on NBC.

Following a rigorous training camp that began on July 30, 2025, the Wolverines, after much fanfare, look poised to showcase their growth and depth on both sides of the ball following their 8-5 record in the 2024 season.

How search for missing teen led to child porn arrest in Wayne County

A man in his 50s has been arrested on suspicion of child exploitation, distribution, and possession of child pornography.

The investigation into Donnie Lee Smith Jr., a resident of Taylor, began on July 31 when the Taylor Police Department was alerted about a missing 14-year-old girl.

The teen’s mother tracked her daughter’s location to an address on Joan Street in Taylor.

Upon arrival, police officers discovered the 14-year-old girl and another girl, who was 13 years old.

Oakland County sheriff blasts ‘shameful’ bond decision after alleged domestic shooter released

A Pontiac mother fears for her life after her boyfriend allegedly shot at her while her child was in the car.

The incident occurred around 1 a.m. Friday (Aug. 29) at the Spring Lake apartment complex, located on Carriage Circle Drive.

Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard expressed disappointment with the court system because the suspect had already been ordered to stay away from the victim when the shooting occurred.

MSP intercepts runaway teen at Detroit Metro Airport minutes before flight to meet online stranger

Michigan State Police have intercepted a runaway teen at Detroit Metro Airport minutes before her flight to meet an online stranger.

The incident occurred on Friday (Aug. 29) when Tropers from the MSP Alpena Post responded to a residence in Sanborn Township.

Upon arrival, MSP stated that they had spoken with the parents and learned that their 17-year-old daughter had run away, and they needed assistance in locating her.

Weather: Sunshine and patchy dense fog to start the holiday weekend in Metro Detroit

With the cool temperatures out the door on Saturday morning, we are expecting some patchy dense fog to develop, which should burn off by midmorning.

Otherwise, we are expecting mostly sunny skies throughout the day. Temperatures a few degrees warmer this afternoon than what we had on Friday.

Expect high temperatures to warm into the low of mid-70s by Saturday afternoon.
