Downtown Royal Oak’s Arts, Beats & Eats festival is in full swing this Labor Day weekend.
Thinking about heading to downtown Royal Oak for some music and food between Saturday, Aug. 30 and Monday, Sept. 1? Here’s where the festival reccomends parking:
Cheapest downtown Royal Oak parking
There are two downtown lots with $15 parking during the festival:
- Rock on Third behind the pub at 112 East Third St.
- Farmers Market at 316 East 11 Mile Road. The lot will still be free to market customers as normal until 1 p.m. on Saturday
More downtown lots
The following lots are right downtown Royal Oak and cost $25 to park, according to the festival. City parking structures accept both cash and credit, according to the City of Royal Oak.
- Downtown Structure #1 at 516 South Layfayette St., near Fifth Street
- Downtown Structure #2 at 271 Lafayette St., north of Fourth Street
- Downtown Structure #3 at 300 South Center St. near Third Street
- Downtown Structure #4 at 110 E. 11 Mile Road between Main and Troy
- Oakland Community College Parking Structure at 847 South Washington Ave.
Near downtown lots
- Royal Oak Middle School at 709 North Washington Ave. costs $15 to park.
- Emagine Theatre Parking Garage at 200 North Main St. usually charges a $5 daily rate. Rates during the festival may vary.
Shuttle Parking
- Royal Oak High School at 1500 Lexington Blvd.
The cost to park is $10, and riding the shuttle is free, according to the festival. The shuttle will run 10:30 a.m. to midnight and will drop off passangers at the intersection of Second Street and Washington Avenue.
Bike parking
Bike parking is free and first come, first served. On Saturday and Sunday, the bike corral will be open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. On Monday, the bike corral will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Washington Street just south of Lincoln has 800 bike spots.
- Washington Street near Second Avenue has 1,000 bike spots.
The festival suggests bikers stay off the sidewalks, 11 Mile Road and Main Street.
SMART Buses
Festivalgoers and anyone interested in bus routes can visit www.smartbus.org to find stations and bus routes.
Where not to park
- Within a mile radius from the festival, all parking in neighborhoods require a permit. Vehicles parked in a neighborhood without a permit are subject to a $50 fine or to be towed if resident parking problems arise.
- Royal Oak parking meters will be closed during the festival to avoid traffic and circling cars looking for spots.
