Mark Gronowski‘s debut as the new Iowa football quarterback was cut short vs. Albany.

The South Dakota State transfer was forced to leave the game at the end of the third quarter after seemingly suffering multiple leg cramps, the first of which he experienced after rushing for a touchdown to cap a 15-play drive.

After going down in the end zone, Gronowski was stretched out and massaged by trainers.

Gronowski played a part of the following drive before being relieved by Hank Brown, who also made his Iowa debut.

Brown led the Hawkeyes to a scoring drive as Drew Stevens made a 55-yard field goal to take a 27-7 lead with 14:21 left in the fourth quarter.

Brown continued to lead the offense on the following drive.
