Michigan football will likely head to Norman next weekend as a betting underdog.
On Sunday, the 14th-ranked Wolverines opened as 4.5 or 5.5-point underdog in the eyes of oddsmakers for their Week 2 showdown at Oklahoma (7:30 p.m. ET, ABC).
DraftKings currently lists Michigan as a 4.5-point underdog, while sportsbook operators BetMGM and FanDuel are both at 5.5.
The total for Saturday night’s game at Memorial Stadium is a consensus 47.5 points.
Last week’s lookahead line had No. 18 Oklahoma a small 2.5 to 3-point favorite, suggesting oddsmakers think more of the Sooners after Week 1.
Michigan is coming off a 34-17 victory over New Mexico in its opener, the debut for freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood, who didn’t turn the ball over while throwing for 251 yards and a touchdown.
Oklahoma, meanwhile, beat Illinois State, 35-3, on a big day from transfer quarterback John Mateer, who finished 30 of 37 for 392 yards and three touchdowns.
Neither team was able to cover the gigantic point spread in their opener.
The meeting will be the second between Michigan and Oklahoma, after a 1975 game in Miami saw the Wolverines lose, 14-6.
It will also mark Michigan’s first true road game against an SEC team in school history, and head coach Sherrone Moore’s return to his alma mater. Moore played at Oklahoma in 2006 and 2007 before embarking on his coaching career.
