The Sun Devils will be going with their new maroon and gold uniforms for the 7 p.m. game Saturday against the Lumberjacks at Mountain America Stadium in Tempe, Arizona.

As for the helmets, ASU football is wearing a gold helmet with a maroon pitchfork for the non-conference game against NAU football.

The uniform/helmet choice has divided some fans, with some liking the look and others having a major gripe (where’s Sparky?).

The Arizona State football team has released a trailer for its 2025 season that is hyping up fans before the Aug. 30 game against NAU at Mountain America Stadium.

The atmosphere at ASU football’s Mountain America Stadium could be an electric one tonight.

The game is a sell-out for Arizona State, the first time the team has sold out all of its tickets for a home opener since 1998.

Tickets are still available on the resale market for the game, including via StubHub.

We included some Arizona State vs NAU predictions above, but there’s always room for more, especially one from a player in the game.

Earlier this week, NAU kicker Samuel Hunsaker posted on Instagram a video of him making a long field goal attempt with the caption: “5 Days away from NAU making history vs ASU.”

The post caught the attention of many people on social media, including Arizona State QB Sam Leavitt, who responded with a single word to Hunsaker’s prediction.

The reply: “Bet.”

For a very different prediction than the one from NAU’s kicker, check out Republic reporter Michelle Gardner’s scouting report on the game between the Sun Devils and Lumberjacks.

Speaking of Sam Leavitt, the ASU QB and the Sun Devils are trying to do something only one Big 12 team has done in the history of the conference this season: repeat as outright conference champions.

Could Arizona State go back-to-back with Big 12 conference titles in its first two seasons in the conference?

When asked about the possibility of repeating as Big 12 champions this season, something that only Oklahoma has done in the history of the Big 12 Conference, ASU coach Kenny Dillingham told ESPN: “We’ve used that quite a bit this year. I explain to our guys just the challenge that we have ahead of us. Only one team in the great history of the conference, but no other team has had this guy (Dillingham points to Sam Leavitt) as their quarterback, and that’s what gives me some peace.”

ASU coach Kenny Dillingham has reasons to be confident with Leavitt leading the Sun Devils. He passed for 2,885 yards in his first season with ASU football last season, throwing 24 touchdown passes and having just six passes intercepted.

He also rushed 110 times for 443 yards and five scores as Arizona State won the Big 12 title in its first season in the conference and made its first-ever appearance in the College Football Playoff.

USA TODAY Sports recently compiled a list of the eight leading contenders for college football’s most prestigious award this season and ASU football QB Sam Leavitt was included on the list.

Paul Myerberg wrote of Leavitt’s Heisman Trophy candidacy: “Leavitt will need to take on an even larger role as the Sun Devils rework things offensively to offset the loss of star running back Cam Skattebo. The sophomore should be up to the challenge after throwing for 2,885 yards and 24 touchdowns against six interceptions in 2024.”
