VIDEO: How Arkansas football QB Taylen Green is developing chemistry with new receivers
Arkansas football QB Taylen Green will need to develop chemistry with multiple new receivers during spring football, which begins March 10.
Young football athletes in Fort Smith will get the opportunity to meet and learn from some of the best players on this year’s Arkansas football roster next weekend, and the city can thank a hometown star.
Razorbacks offensive lineman Kobe Branham is hosting a youth football camp on Saturday, July 19, at Southside High School. Branham is a redshirt freshman at Arkansas who graduated from Southside and was part of Razorback coach Sam Pittman’s 2024 recruiting class.
Joining Branham as camp counselors will be quarterbacks Taylen Green and KJ Jackson, offensive linemen Fernando Carmona and Caden Kitler, and wide receiver CJ Brown.
Even with high-profile names like Green and Jackson in attendance, Southside football coach Kim Dameron believes Branham will be the star of the show.
“Anytime a hometown kid goes on to be a Razorback, he means a little extra to the community,” Dameron said. “He’s the example of who, not only Southside High School kids, but all kids in Fort Smith can look up to.”
Dameron is also personally appreciative of Branham’s efforts. As a high school coach, he recognizes the importance of grassroots events like this in a proud football community.
“You’ve got to grow the game from the ground up,” Dameron said. “Kobe and his family know how positive of an influence football can be in a young man’s life and they want to share that.”
Registration is officially closed for the event. Kobe Branham’s father, Jerad Branham, said they’ve already had 135 kids sign up.
All of the registration proceeds will benefit the Fort Smith Boys and Girls Club. Kobe began his football career there at the age of 5. He also played baseball and basketball and volunteered refereeing and working the first-down chains growing up in Fort Smith.
Kobe’s dad, sister, grandmother and other family members have all worked at the local Boys and Girls Club. Jerad first got involved in 1992, and he has been the club’s athletic director for the past two years.
