Brentford have reportedly rejected a £25million offer from Newcastle for forward Yoane Wissa.
The Athletic stated that the Magpies are continuing to pursue the Congo international despite seeing their initial bid rebuffed.
Wissa has reportedly left Brentford’s training camp in Portugal to return to London, where he is expected to hold talks with the club’s hierarchy over his future.
The 28-year-old has attracted the interest of Newcastle, Tottenham and Nottingham Forest after scoring 19 goals in the Premier League last season.
Brentford have attempted to dissuade him from moving by entering dialogue over a new deal for the DR Congo international.
Reports have suggested Wissa is keen to leave this summer and has no desire to discuss improved terms to his contract.

Wissa’s existing deal has 12 months to run, but has the option to be extended for a year.
Newcastle have already boosted their forward options this summer with the £55million signing of Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest.
The loss of Wissa would represent another major blow for Brentford in a summer of change at the club.
On Monday, Brentford confirmed the club record £71million sale of Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United.
Mbeumo and Wissa scored a combined 39 goals for Brentford in the Premier League last season.
The figure represents over half of Brentford’s overall tally, with the Bees scoring 66 in total during the 2024-25 campaign.
Club captain Christian Norgaard joined Arsenal earlier this move in a £15million move in another significant change, following the departure of long-serving head coach Thomas Frank to Tottenham.
Brentford, now managed by Keith Andrews, have begun their search for attacking reinforcements.

The Bees have bid £35million for Ipswich winger Omari Hutchinson, who is thought to be keen on the move.
As first revealed by Mail Sport last week, Hutchinson has been identified as the ideal man to supplement their attack.
Everton are also interested in Hutchinson and there is a chance Nottingham Forest may enter the race.
Brentford have already signed goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher from Liverpool for £12.5m and attacking midfielder Antoni Milambo from Feyernoord for £16m.
Jordan Henderson completed a move to the club on a free transfer last week after leaving Ajax.
Henderson, described by Bees boss Keith Andrews as ‘one of the most influential leaders in modern Premier League years’ will look to fill the void left by Norgaard.
