Chelsea handed major injury boost ahead of Club World final with star midfielder set to be FIT for crunch clash with PSG

Chelsea have been dealt an immense boost by Moises Caicedo returning to training today, just two days after injuring his ankle in their Club World Cup semi-final win over Fluminense.

The Blues face the uphill task of overcoming the power of Luis Enrique’s Paris Saint-Germain in this Sunday’s final in New Jersey.

That will see the Conference League winners take on the Champions League conquerors, and Caicedo, despite being unable to finish the 2-0 win versus Fluminense, has maintained his indestructible reputation by training.

The 23-year-old defensive midfielder is one of the few Chelsea players who would stand a chance of getting in PSG’s line-up.

However, there were some faces missing from Chelsea’s session held in New York.

Romeo Lavia was still absent due to injury, while Robert Sanchez was not involved in the goalkeeping drills despite being present at the start of the session for the customary slaps that Chelsea’s players like to do.

But the Blues midfielder has been spotted back in training ahead of the final against PSG

Romeo Lavia was absent from the session on Thursday and it is yet to be seen whether he will feature on Sunday

That sees them form two lines as they nominate one team-mate to run through the middle to be slapped playfully by everyone else.

Noni Madueke appeared to escape that treatment as he trained despite him appearing close to a move to Arsenal after the Gunners opened direct talks with the Blues.

Madueke is understood to have already agreed personal terms with Mikel Arteta’s side as he is interested in moving to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

The 23-year-old winger has been an important player for Maresca but Chelsea have another wonderkid incoming in Estevao Willian, 18, from Palmeiras.
