Another week of school is over and the Friday lights for Week 2 of high school football in Cincinnati have been flipped on.
Week 2 brings conference play that runs until Week 10 for the Greater Miami Conference and Eastern Cincinnati Conference. Taft visits Alter after beating the Knights twice last season, Wyoming meets Purcell Marian for the first time since 2008 and Elder also hosts Covington Catholic to highlight some of the area’s other top contests.

Leading Winton Woods 16-14, Kings forced a turnover on downs with 3:16 left in regulation.
Covington Catholic’s Cash Harney found Logan Sanning who broke several tackles to finish off a 49-yard touchdown for the Colonels. The score cut Elder’s lead to 28-20 with seven minutes left in the fourth quarter.
A kick return touchdown gave Williamsburg a 20-6 lead over New Richmond in the third quarter. A win for Williamsburg would avenge its only regular season loss from last season.

Winton Woods and Kings are again playing in a competitive Eastern Cincinnati Conference tilt. Winton Woods evened the game 7-7 on the final play of the quarter. Bryshawn Brown connected with Jon’ir Travis on a 15-yard touchdown.

Taft beat Alter twice in 2024, including a 26-6 win in the Region 16 finals. The pair are meeting again in Week 2 and are tied 7-7 after the first quarter of play.
In one of five Greater Miami Conference bouts, Mason and Lakota West are tied at 7-7 after a quarter. Lakota West won last year’s meeting 41-0.
Covington Catholic had a 96-yard kick return by Dylan Gaiser to open the game, but the Colonels failed to take the final few yards for a touchdown. The Colonels settled for a 20-yard field goal and an early 3-0 lead on the road.

Ohio high school football Super 25 Week 2 rankings
The USA Today Network Ohio High School Football Super 25 poll is voted on by a panel of sports writers and editors from across Ohio. The poll ranks the top 25 teams in Ohio, regardless of division.
Just like in the preseason poll, Moeller took the No. 1 spot in the state and Anderson also appeared in the top five overall. Overall, Cincinnati had five teams in the rankings.
