Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Football Schedule 2025: Dates, Times And More

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps football team should be very proud of the way it has performed over the past four seasons while compiling a 30-9 record, even if it hasn’t translated to championships or playoff opportunities.

In 2023 and 2024, the Stags posted a program-best eight wins each season (tying 1970 and 1986), but both campaigns ended with third-place finishes in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

The main thing standing between CMS and the chance to play for trophies in the conference’s new two-division format has been the Chapman Panthers, who are responsible for all four Claremont-Mudd-Scripps losses the past two years.

Chapman and CMS each finished 6-2 in conference play the last two years, finishing tied for first place in the Surf Division, but because Chapman defeated the Stags in their head-to-head meetings, the Panthers earned the chance to play for the conference title against Sun Division winner, Pomona-Pitzer.

In the previous conference structure, last used in 2022, the conference standings determined the champion. That year, CMS and Pomona-Pitzer tied for first place at 5-1 and were named co-champions, but because Pomona-Pitzer beat CMS in the season finale, the Sagehens went on to the NCAA Division III Playoffs, while the Stags went home.

All of that is in the past, however, and 2025 is another opportunity for CMS to find success beyond the regular season.

The Stags’ campaign will begin Sept. 6 against Lake Forest College, but the main roadblock circled on the calendar should be the team’s Oct. 25 meeting with Chapman. Until someone else steps up, that matchup will continue to determine who represents the Surf Division in the SCIAC championship game.
