It’s been a less-than-ideal last few months for Colorado Buffaloes football coach Deion Sanders. The charismatic and larger-than-life personality has been in the shadows after his sons, Shedeur and Shilo, plummeted down the NFL draft boards, with the latter not getting selected at all.
The 57-year-old not only has to gear up for a rebuilding campaign at CU after losing many notable top contributors, but also has to do it without coaching his aforementioned children for the first time in his coaching career.
In such a crucial off-season for his program, Coach Prime has been away from Boulder, battling a mysterious health issue, which he finally (sort of) provided an update on.
While speaking at Big 12 Football Media Day, Sanders didn’t offer much about his current personal status but tried to ease any concerns.
“I’m really not going to tell you much,” Deion said. “I’m not going to talk about my health. I’m living good. I’m living lovely. Not a care in the world.”
It wasn’t the most reassuring quote, but Deion is allowed to have some level of personal privacy.
The attention now shifts to whether Deion will be able to be on the sidelines for the Buffs in this crucial upcoming season.
The conference is up for grabs, and Colorado has enough talent to make some noise, but in such a packed field, a few games could be the difference between making it to championship weekend and missing a bowl game altogether.
If Deion is truly ready to go, the Buffs have a chance to turn some heads yet again.
