Football games are won at the line of scrimmage, and Colorado rebuilt both the offensive and defensive lines this offseason.
The Buffs led the Big 12 in sacks last season, but lost two of their top three pass rushers in BJ Green and Taje McCoy. However, one rising junior seems to be primed for a breakout season.
Former LSU transfer Quency Wiggins arrived in Boulder last year, but primarily played special teams for the Buffs. Wiggins saw limited action at LSU, but he has the talent to be a premier pass rusher. He was the No. 38 overall player in the transfer portal last year, according to 247Sports.
Wiggins has two years left at Colorado and is looking to establish himself as a premier edge rusher with the depth chart cleared up ahead of him.

2024 in review
Wiggins was a key special-teams player in 2024, but only played 20 defensive snaps. He tallied one assisted tackle. He played 58 snaps on the field goal/PAT unit.
Biggest question in 2025
Wiggins has the recruiting pedigree to be a defensive standout, but can he prove it on the field? That will be the most significant question mark going into the season. He has the talent to be Colorado’s starting end opposite Arden Walker, he just needs the playing time.
2025 will be a success if…
If Wiggins can grab hold of one starting defensive end spot, the 2025 season would be a success. Considering he recorded only one tackle last season, from a statistical standpoint, Wiggins achieving any consistent numbers would be a significant improvement. Finishing the year with five or more sacks and a couple of tackles for a loss would likely make Wiggins one of Colorado’s top defensive linemen.
