The Dodgers on Tuesday placed closer Tanner Scott on the 15-day injured list with left elbow inflammation, after the left-hander left Monday night’s game against the Twins feeling a sting in his forearm.
Scott got the final out in the eighth inning and one more out in the ninth, but two walks and a hit by pitch put the Dodgers’ lead in peril. One pitch prior to the second walk. Scott left the game with a team trainer while shaking his hand.
Manager Dave Roberts told reporters after Monday’s game that an injured-list stint was likely for Scott, who has a 4.14 ERA in 47 appearances with 19 saves, a major-league-high seven blown saves, 50 strikeouts, and 11 walks in his 45⅔ innings.
On Tuesday the outlook was less grim, in that Scott might still pitch again this season.
Dodgers are still waiting on the results from Tanner Scott’s MRI, but Dave Roberts sounded a lot more optimistic than he did last night
He said Scott came in feeling better today, and that there is still hope they’ll be able to get him back this season

Dodgers are still waiting on MRI results on Tanner Scott. He’s going on the IL but they believe he’s “in a better” spot than last night, Dave Roberts said.

Scott is the 18th different Dodgers pitcher to be placed on the injured list this season, a group that includes other high-leverage bullpen arms Evan Phillips, Blake Treinen, Michael Kopech, Brusdar Graterol, and the now-active Kirby Yates.
Only six of the 13 pitchers who were active for the Dodgers home opener on March 27 have avoided the injured list this season: Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Dustin May, Alex Vesia, Jack Dreyer, Ben Casparius, and Anthony Banda.
Taking Scott’s place on the active roster is Alexis Díaz, who was called up from Triple-A Oklahoma City. This is the second stint in the majors with the Dodgers since getting acquired from the Reds on May 29. He was called up on July 8 when the team was in Milwaukee but did not pitch in the one game he was active, and was optioned the next day.
Díaz has a 6.75 ERA with seven walks and six strikeouts in 6⅔ innings over eight games with the Comets, including one save. He last pitched on Saturday, throwing a scoreless inning with two strikeouts in Sacramento.
GM Brandon Gomes said #Dodgers are very encouraged by Alexis Diaz’s recent work. Velo is up after work with staff in AZ: “We’ve seen flashes of really good stuff out there. Especially his last outing was super encouraging.”
