Though Mike Gundy has long been identified by his hairstyle, the EA Sports College Football 26 image has hair much taller than reality — which Gundy enjoyed.

College Football 26 has come out to largely rave reviews in the first week after its release. But that doesn’t mean it’s perfect, leading to the first update from EA Sports.
Players of the popular college football video game saw a new download (version 1.004.000) on their version of the game July 15. The game celebrated its wide release date July 10, though those who bought the Deluxe and MVP editions got early access July 7.
The Orlando-based studio has not released a complete log of patches in its latest update, but it did break down some of the most common issues reported in the game’s earliest days. Those complaints have centered around kicking field goals, stiff arms, pass protection and snapping the ball, while others have reported issues with the popular Team Builder and the new Coach Trust system in Road to Glory.

What’s included in CFB 26 update?
So far, it doesn’t look like the patch has included anything major. A glitch that prevented certain art from playing has been confirmed fixed, while others have reported the following patches:
- Addressed online Dynasty issue where some players were unable to load their league
- Addressed game crashing issues
- Fixed general stability issues
- Gameplay improvements

Some Reddit users have noted the glitch preventing players from snapping the ball has been fixed. And if the early reports are accurate, issues with logos, teams and uniforms created in Team Builder causing crashes when playing them in Dynasty mode may have been addressed, as well.
What EA Sports said it’s fixing in CFB 26
EA Sports posted July 11 on the College Football 26 forum about gameplay patches it was working on after the first week it’s been out:
- Field goals: Players have reported being unable to kick. EA said the glitch has been confirmed in rare occasions that “only happens if your kicker is left-footed and if the kick was going to be blocked.” It said the issue would be addressed.
- Snapping: Players have reported similar issues with being unable to hike the ball. EA said it found the bug at the line of scrimmage while hitting RT/R2 and Up on the right stick and releasing both at the same time. It said a workaround was hitting B/Circle repeatedly or attempting another Pass Protection, adding they were working on a permanent fix.
- Stiff arms: Players have reported stiff-arming to be too powerful. EA said it was looking into the issue and offered a countermeasure for defenses: “flick the right stick down to counter with a ‘Cut Stick’ which takes out the ball carrier’s legs.”

Another issue brought up by EA Sports was player complaints about pass protection. Social media is littered with examples of players frustrated with various issues around the offensive line:
The pass protection system got a major revamp from last year’s College Football 25. EA acknowledged those complaints and gave several pointers on how the new system works.
That’s not the only new feature that’s seen issues early on. In Road to Glory mode, players have reported off-field problems have been made exponentially more difficult, especially when balancing the Coach Trust meter with a cornerback.
College Football 26 release date: When does CFB 26 come out?
College Football 26 is out now. The game celebrated its wide release Thursday, July 10 and was available Monday, July 7 for those who pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition or MVP Bundle.

The Standard Edition of College Football 26 costs $69.99. The Deluxe Edition costs $99.99, and the MVP Bundle, which includes the Deluxe Edition of both CFB 26 and Madden 26, is $149.99.
Will College Football 26 be on PC?
Like CFB 25, College Football 26 is available to play only on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. There are no known plans to make it available for PC gamers and those on previous-gen consoles such as Xbox One and PS4.
