Emiliano Martinez LEFT OUT of Aston Villa squad amid Man United talks – with outcast floated in deal… as Unai Emery gives VERY blunt answer in awkward interview about keeper

Emiliano Martinez has been left out of the Aston Villa squad to face Crystal Palace amid interest from Manchester United.

The World Cup winner, who has been at Villa since 2020, was replaced in the starting XI by summer signing Marco Bizot starting, while youngster Sam Proctor is on the bench. 

Martinez turns 33 next week and is closing in on 200 Premier League appearances.

When asked about Martinez’s absence, Emery repeated the name of his replacement, Bizot, three times before declaring ‘the time is over’.

Daily Mail Sport understands that United exile Jadon Sancho has been floated in talks between the two sides, as they look to find a solution over valuations. 

United and Villa also both have interest in Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens.

United have also made an improved offer for Lammens.

Martinez has been heavily linked with a move away from Villa throughout the transfer window. 

He won the World Cup with Argentina in 2022 and has frequently impressed for Villa.

Bringing in a goalkeeper is a key priority for United given the struggles that Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir have endured.

United manager Ruben Amorim is said to have lost faith in Onana, who cost £43m from Ajax in 2023.

Sancho spent last season on loan at Chelsea and previously had a temporary stint at Borussia Dortmund.

Former United defender Victor Lindelof, whose contract with the club expired this summer, is set to join Villa.

So far in this transfer window United have signed four players, bringing in Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Diego Leon.
