Fantasy Football TE Rankings Week 15: Who to start, best sleepers at tight end

Everyone’s favorite second-half breakout, Jonnu Smith, was on the verge of posting a donut last week against the Jets. Thankfully, this matchup went to overtime, and Smith racked up three receptions for 44 yards and a score in the extra period. Smith is well on his way to being the league-winning tight end that many hoped he’d be.

George Kittle kept his foot on the gas as well last week. He finished with a season-high 151 receiving yards against the Bears. This was Kittle’s fifth time scoring at least 20 PPR points this year, the most games with 20-plus points of any tight end. If Kittle did not miss two games over the course of the year, he could be contending for the TE1 title.

Hopefully, your tight end will be able to put together a 20-point performance every week. With the Sporting News’ tight end rankings in hand, you’ll be in the best position possible to get a big day from your tight end.

Who are the best fantasy TEs for Week 15?

Brock Bowers has officially set the record for most receptions by a rookie tight end, and we still have a month left in the year. He’s just 21 years old, and he’s arguably the best tight end in the NFL. You can even make the argument for Bowers being one of the best pass catchers in the NFL. Bowers is the TE1 in fantasy, and he’ll compete for a TE1 ranking each and every week.

George Kittle is one of the other tight ends who have been carrying the position this season. Aside from the 49ers’ Week 13 matchup in a blizzard, Kittle has finished as a top-10 tight end in every game he’s played this season. His ability to generate yards after the catch and playing a key role in the red zone will allow him to be a consistent producer in fantasy lineups for the rest of the year.

Aside from his allergy to finding the endzone, Trey McBride has been sensational this season. He’s now been targeted 41 times in his last three games. Much like Kittle, McBride is one of the most talented tight ends in the league at creating yards after the catch. McBride pops both on film and in spreadsheets; everyone can get behind this guy being an elite fantasy asset.

Who are the best fantasy TE waiver pickups for Week 15?

With Taysom Hill out of the picture, Juwan Johnson took over as the Saints’ primary pass-catching tight end. He played 49 snaps and ran 28 routes on 36 dropbacks against the Giants in Week 14. He ultimately drew five targets, finishing with four receptions and 50 yards. Considering his primary target competition is Alvin Kamara and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, somewhere in the range of a half dozen targets each week is a reasonable expectation. If he can continue to expand his role in the coming weeks, Johnson could push to be a fringe TE1 option in strong matchups.

Dallas Goedert was placed on IR heading into Week 14, elevating Grant Calcaterra into the TE1 role for the rest of the fantasy season. This wasn’t Calcaterra’s first spot start of the season, but he looked good against the Panthers as the Eagles’ starter. He hauled in all three targets and found the end zone for 10.6 PPR points on the day. Calcaterra will be a touchdown-dependent fantasy option, but in the Philadelphia offense, there will be plenty of touchdowns to go around.

Who are the best fantasy TE sleepers for Week 15?

The Bears have been testing the conditioning of their skill players over the last month. Following the firing of Shane Waldron, Cole Kmet has played nearly every offensive snap. Kmet is purely a routes-based bet; with a full-time role, he’ll have plenty of opportunities to draw targets. Many of his routes will be empty, but Kmet has shown the ability to command a 20-percent target share in a single game. Against the Vikings, who generate plenty of pressure on the quarterback, we could see some quick hitters to Kmet.

Zach Ertz could be on this sleeper list every week. Ertz has produced among the TE1 ranks, but he is viewed outside of the top-12 tight ends by most fantasy managers. Well, Ertz has scored at least 12.5 PPR points in three straight games, a number that would leave most managers satisfied. The Commanders shouldn’t have much of an issue moving the ball against the Saints, and Ertz can be a key piece of their offensive production, particularly in the red zone.

What are the biggest TE injuries for Week 15?

Dalton Kincaid left during Week 10 with a knee injury and has not played since. There was some optimism that he would be able to return in Week 14, so there’s a good chance that he’ll be back in action against the Lions on Sunday.
