Florida State football landed its quarterback in the transfer portal.

After taking his official visit on Wednesday, Thomas Castellanos decided to commit to the Seminoles.

“Florida State has always been my dream school,” Castellanos told Noles247.

“I’ve been saying that since high school. It’s always been my dream school. I’ve had family go there, play there. Just to carry on the tradition and just come back home, back to the south, get out of the cold and be around former friends and family. Just to play for a rich tradition.”

After losing freshman quarterback Luke Kromenhoek to the portal, adding Castellanos gives FSU a guaranteed quarterback option following a 2-10 season.

One factor in Castellanos’s decision to join the Seminoles is reuniting with recently hired offensive coordinator, Gus Malzahn, and playing in his offensive scheme.

Castellanos started his career at UCF in 2021, where Malzahn was the head coach. FSU also recruited the Georgia native as a three-star prospect out of high school.

The former Boston College quarterback entered the portal after being benched last month for Grayson James. He left the Eagles prior to the season’s end, finishing the year with 1,366 passing yards, 18 touchdowns and five interceptions.

FSU has faced Castellanos in the last two seasons, and the Seminoles struggled against the 5-foot-9 QB.

In Week 2, Castellano scored three total touchdowns at Doak Campbell Stadium while throwing for 106 yards and rushing for 73 yards in BC’s victory over FSU.

Last year, Castellanos threw for 305 passing yards and rushed for 95 yards with two total scores and nearly upset the unbeaten Seminoles, 31-29.

That same year, Castellanos produced 3,361 total yards of offense and 28 touchdowns, including rushing for 1,113 rushing yards. He received an All-ACC Honorable Mentioned.
