George Karlaftis to sign four year, $93m extension with K.C. Chiefs

On Sunday, July 20, news broke that star defensive lineman George Karlaftis had agreed to a four-year contract extension with the Kansas City Chiefs, which will be worth a maximum of $ 93 million.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network was credited with the initial report of Karlaftis’ new deal and shared the news in a post to his official Twitter account.

Karlaftis joined the Chiefs as one of Kansas City’s two first-round picks in the 2022 NFL draft. In his first three regular-season campaigns with the Chiefs, Karlaftis has recorded 115 combined tackles, 24.5 sacks, 15 passes defensed, and one forced fumble.

Although the finer details of Karlaftis’ new contract haven’t been made public, Rapoport indicated that Kansas City’s front office has given the former Purdue Boilermaker a $62,000,000 guarantee.

A native of Athens, Greece, Karlaftis should be expected to develop into a cornerstone of the Chiefs’ defense in the coming years as he plays out his newly negotiated deal.

Expect to hear from Karlaftis and the rest of Kansas City’s stars when Chiefs Training Camp kicks off later this week.
