Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay encouraged viewers to wear a helmet after a “really bad” bike accident.
Gordon Ramsay is known for his biting insults and salty rants, but now he has an important reminder for us all.
The British celebrity chef took to Instagram on Saturday, Aug. 30 to reveal a scar from undergoing skin cancer surgery.
“Grateful and so appreciative for the incredible team at The Skin Associates and their fast reactive work on removing this Basal Cell Carcinoma thank you ! Please don’t forget your sunscreen this weekend ❤️I promise you it’s not a face lift! I’d need a refund,” he wrote.
Applying the sunscreen and avoiding the sun can help protect against basal cell carcinoma, according to Mayo Clinic. The medical center’s website states that basal cell carcinoma “often appears as a slightly transparent bump on the skin, though it can take other forms.”
“Most basal cell carcinomas are thought to be caused by long-term exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from sunlight,” per Mayo.
The photo featured a big bandage on his face near his right ear while a second picture shows stiches from the incident. The “Masterchef” star has the support of his daughter Holly Ramsay, who commented “love you dad” and the organization Cancer Research UK.
“Glad to hear you’re doing well, Gordon, and thanks for raising awareness of how important it is to stay safe in the sun ❤️ Seek shade, cover up, and apply sunscreen regularly and generously,” the cancer research organization’s account said.
Ramsay currently stars on “Gordon Ramsay: Secret Service,” similar to his former show “Kitchen Nightmares,” and the cooking competition series “Masterchef” are currently airing on Fox.
