How To Watch Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Football In 2025

The Claremont-Mudd-Scripps football team has been on a pretty stellar run since COVID-19 canceled the 2020 season, but there have been some obstacles along the way, too.

The first hurdle for the Stags in 2025 will be replacing 21 graduated seniors to get the team in a position for a fifth consecutive season with seven or more wins.

The second challenge will be navigating the divisional format of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and rebounding from back-to-back third-place conference finishes.

Last season, CMS won its final contest – the third-place game of the SCIAC Championship Weekend – to tie a program-record with eight wins. The Stags also won eight games in 1970, 1986 and 2023.

Unfortunately for CMS, the conference’s new structure has not been kind.

Since the six-team SCIAC debuted its two-division format in 2023, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps has finished tied for first place with Chapman in the Surf Division, with each going 6-2 in conference play.

However, because Chapman won their head-to-head meetings – two each season – the Panthers earned the opportunity to play for the conference title, while the best the Stags could do each time was third place.

In 2022, the final year of the conference standings determining the champion, CMS shared the SCIAC title with Pomona-Pitzer. Both teams were 5-1, while Pomona-Pitzer got to represent the conference in the NCAA Division III Playoffs by virtue of its win over CMS to close the regular season.

In all, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps owns 10 SCIAC titles – 1950, 1953, 1954, 1955, 1970, 1979, 1986, 1987, 2018 and 2022.

Can the Stags finally get past Chapman after being dominated by the Panthers for two consecutive seasons?
