Stockton had the Georgia fan base’s full attention entering his first career home start. The redshirt junior had some missteps but otherwise showed why he is trusted to run the Georgia offense this fall.
Stockton got off to a hot start for Georgia (1-0) and delivered as a passer and as a runner in the big win. Stockton’s most impressive work came on the ground, as he showed off his legs on multiple occasions and found the end zone twice.
Stockton was 14-of-24 passing for 190 yards with 2 touchdowns and no turnovers. He also rushed 10 times for 73 yards and 2 scores.
Stockton wasn’t perfect on Saturday, and he’ll likely watch the film and realize he had some missed opportunities through the air. That said, he passed his first test as the full-time starter. The next one comes a week from today against Austin Peay.
