SAN ANTONIO – The East Texas A&M University football team officially began its 2025 season on Monday with the Southland Conference Football Opening Drive, presented by Big Game USA, inside the Henry B. Gonzalez Center.

For the second straight year, the Southland’s football media day festivities were held in conjunction with the Texas High School Coaches Association Coaching School and Convention. The Lions were represented by coach Clint Dolezel, linebacker Kyree Anderson (Cy-Lakes), and wide receiver Christian Jourdain (New Orleans) at the two-day event.

On Sunday, the trio interacted with head coaches and players from the other nine football playing teams in the Southland, taking part in meetings and trainings as well as a creative content car wash, which included photoshoots and video shoots for the Southland.

The night concluded with an activity to bond with their counterparts. Monday morning, the Southland announced the annual preseason poll, which can be found HERE.

The Southland Football Opening Drive consisted of the Lion trio making stops at various stations throughout the morning. The first session came with few national media covering the entirety of NCAA Division I FCS, followed by a visit with local media from other SLC members, an interview at the set of the conference’s YouTube coverage, and a press conference that was broadcasted live as well.

The day concluded with an interview with ‘The Other D1 Podcast’ as well as a visit with KETR 88.9 FM, the home of the Lion Sports Network, and interacting with supporters of the program on the Southland social media channels throughout the day.
