A 23-year-old man is due to appear in court charged with murder after a mother-of-one was killed in a hit-and-run crash.
Keaton Muldoon, 23, has been charged with murder and attempted murder after the horror smash which killed 25-year-old Alana Armstrong last week in Pleasley, Nottinghamshire, and seriously injured a second rider.
Ms Armstrong, who has a six-year-old boy, was riding an e-bike when a 4×4 slammed into her in Batley Lane at 8pm on November 26. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The rider on the front of the electric cycle – a man in his 20s – was injured so badly he had to have his leg amputated, Derbyshire Constabulary said.
Muldoon was arrested shortly after the crash and was quizzed by detectives at St Mary’s Wharf Police Station in Derby.
In a statement this afternoon, the police force said the 23-year-old, of Mansfield, had been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
Police previously said a 4×4 had been following the two e-bikes before the driver rammed into one of them and before driving away, leaving Alana, of Tibshelf, Derbyshire, to die in the road.
Speaking last month, Detective Inspector Steve Shaw, said: ‘We are now nearly a week on from Alana’s death and the response from the public has been nothing short of fantastic.

Young mother Alana Armstrong suffered ‘catastrophic’ injuries when the off-roader knocked her off the bike in Batley Lane in Pleasley, near Mansfield, on Tuesday, November 26
‘We have received information from dozens of people which has been absolutely crucial to bringing about this arrest.
‘We still want to hear from anyone who has not already come forward with information that can assist our investigation which you can do in confidence to the force, or completely anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers.’
It comes after Derbyshire Police released a CCTV image of a woman they are looking for in relation to the murder investigation, who they believe has ‘vital information’.
The woman was pictured outside the White Swan pub in Pleasley wearing a light-coloured jumper, matching trousers and white trainers.
She was of average height and build and had dark hair, tied back into a ponytail.
Lydia Patsalides, Crimestoppers East Midlands regional manager, added: ‘My heart goes out to Alana’s family and friends – and especially her little boy.
‘She was a young mother who died in the most horrific way.
‘I would urge anyone who has any information to come forward to speak to our charity 100 per cent anonymously, to bring justice to those responsible.
‘We know it can be difficult for some people to speak directly to the police which is why Crimestoppers is here for you.

‘Our charity is completely independent of the police, and we’ve been passing on information about crime whilst guaranteeing anonymity since we were established decades ago. It’s a promise we have always kept.
‘Crimestoppers is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We cannot trace your call or track your IP address.
‘No one will ever know you contacted us. This means no police, no courts, no witness statements.
‘You may think your information is insignificant, however it could make all the difference.’
Chief Superintendent Dave Kirby, of Derbyshire Police, said: ‘Alana was just 25 – and a mum to a six-year-old boy.
‘Her little boy, along with her wider family, will never get the chance to see her again, hug her again, spend Christmas together, or celebrate all those milestones.
‘My thoughts, as well as those of the whole force and community, are with them at this time.’
Two people, a man and a woman both in their 30s from the Skegby area of Nottinghamshire, who were arrested in connection with the incident have been released without charge and have been ruled out of our investigation.
Friends paid tribute to Alana on social media, with one writing: ‘Absolutely heartbreaking when this happens to people you know.’
