There have been rumors after he was traded that Micah Parsons was not well-liked by some of his former Cowboys teammates, which caused a lot of friction in the locker room.
While Parsons had a close friendship with Trevon Diggs, that wasn’t the case for every Cowboys player.
According to NFL Insider Albert Beer, Parsons was seen by some of his teammates as self-centered and egotistical.
“(Zack)Martin, (CeeDee) Lamb and (Dak) Prescott are/were very popular in the locker room,” Breer wrote. “That’s not the case with Parsons, who has rankled teammates in different ways, seen by some as egotistical and self-centered. His podcast has created issues, too, that go all the way up to quarterback Dak Prescott.”
Another issue, according to Beer, was that Parsons was”playing out of structure in an effort to make big plays,” which would sometimes hurt the team when they tried to stop the run. The Cowboys were 29th last year in stopping the run.
Jerry Jones even mentioned in his press conference when discussing the trade that they needed help stopping the run, which is part of the reason the trade was made.
But even NFL and college football commentator Kirk Herbstreit brought up the fact that Parsons may have become a problem in the Cowboys’ locker room.
Herbstreit discussed the culture in Dallas and how Parsons may have influenced it.
“But what does he do behind the scenes to the culture of who the Dallas Cowboys are,” he said Friday. For Dallas not willing to sign him, it must have been significant to say, let’s get rid of this guy.” I know it sounds crazy, but I applaud Dallas for letting him go. And trying to build a culture of team instead of an individual.”
Maybe those rumors about Parsons having issues with his teammates are true after all.
