PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Coach Tommy Joe Whiddon, his staff and players hosting a youth camp for area kids between the ages of five and twelve.
This is year five for this camp at Mosley. They started at 6:30 and it ran for two hours. The idea in that avoid the heat that you would have in a morning or afternoon time slot.
Well over 100 kids showing up, with many of them kids who are into their second or third camp at Mosley. The coach telling us the goals are to have these youngsters learn a thing or two about the game, but mainly to just have fun doing it.
“Well the first thing is we want these kids to have fun. And then hopefully we can teach them how to play hard, run around, how to compete a little bit. Teach them some drills, teach them some base fundamentals. And then we’ll cap off the night playing some two-hand touch football, which the kids love and hopefully we’ll have a great time. We have a lot of support from the Lynn Haven Storm, the Lynn Haven Raiders and kids around the community coming out. And hopefully we’ll have a great turnout tonight and have a lot of fun.” Whiddon said.
Whiddon and his guys with one more week of summer work, they’ll have two workouts next week, before official fall practice begins on the 28th.
