NATO’s Poland scrambled fighter jets as Russia launched a huge missile and drone attack on Ukraine.

The Polish Operational Command of the Armed Forces said it had activated “all available forces and resources” in response to the attack.

This included scrambling pairs of fighter jets and putting ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems at “the highest state of readiness”.

“The measures taken are aimed at ensuring security in areas bordering the threatened regions,” Operational Command said in a post on X, originally in Polish.

The Ukrainian Air Force said Russia had launched 728 drones—its largest such attack of the war to date—and 13 missiles. The Air Force said it had intercepted 718 objects.
