Oklahoma State Football searching for answers headed into 2025 season

FRISCO, Texas (KXII) – OSU’s 2024 campaign started undefeated in non conference play, including a double overtime win against Arkansas before dropping the final 9 games of the season. The Pokes, missing a bowl game under Mike Gundy for the 1st time since taking over the program in 2005.

After a disappointing finish to the year, they’ll look to reload with new talent.

”My expectations for this season is going back to the big 12 championship,“ says Defensive Back Cam Smith. ”Not only getting back there but winning it, and make a run in the playoffs”

Head coach Mike Gundy says they will rely on a lot of new faces this year, including coaches.

Gundy adding defensive coordinator Todd Grantham to the staff, who will be tasked with bolstering Oklahoma State’s defense which was ranked dead last in the big 12 last season.

“The way we’re gonna play is gonna play fast, physical and aggressive, so guys gotta be fresh guys gotta be ready,” OSU Defensive End Iman Oates says. “Ones, twos and maybe even threes sometimes gotta be ready to get some reps each game.”

The Cowboys have been plenty busy in the summer, adding thirty five new players to the roster last month.

They’ve also got a position battle between four Freshman quarterbacks to decide who will take over the reins of the Cowboys offense.

“The coaches understand that it’s gonna have to happen faster in August this year than it ever has before so we can get established,” Gundy says. “So we can create some identity, hopefully develop some team chemistry and get ready to play in the first game”

The Cowboys will look to bounce back this fall, with their season opener against UT Martin on August 28th.
