OSU football QB broke foot vs UT Martin

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State quarterback Hauss Hejny suffered a broken foot and will miss multiple games, The Oklahoman confirmed Friday morning.

The redshirt freshman started OSU football’s season opener, a 27-7 win over UT Martin on Thursday night at Boone Pickens Stadium, but exited after the third series.

He broke a bone in his foot and will be out for “an extended period of time,” according to the initial report by 247Sports. On3 later reported that Hejny was set to undergo surgery Friday and expected to miss at least five weeks.

Hejny, a 6-foot, 206-pound redshirt freshman, was named the Cowboys’ starter Tuesday, though backup Zane Flores was expected to play, regardless.

Hejny led OSU to touchdowns on his first two drives, then went three-and-out on the third, when he apparently suffered the injury. He finished 5 of 10 passing for 96 yards and a touchdown, with 27 rushing yards and a TD.

Flores, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound redshirt freshman, will be the starter going forward, with true freshman Banks Bowen expected to serve as his backup.

Flores completed 13 of 20 passes for 136 yards, leading three scoring drives — two field goals and a touchdown — in the victory.

OSU visits Oregon at 2:30 p.m. Sept 6 at Autzen Stadium in Eugene.
