Pete Crow-Armstrong swats 2 home runs in series finale, makes history

The Chicago Cubs avoided a series sweep with an 8-1 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Thursday.

2025 National League All-Star starting centerfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong hit a pair of long home runs and hit a hustle double to finish the game 3-for-4 with a walk.

With those two home runs, Crow-Armstrong now has the most home runs by an outfielder playing his position (without being a designated hitter) with 25.

He also became the seventh player in Major League Baseball history with at least five multi-HR games and five multi-SB games in a season and is the fastest to accomplish that feat.

Crow-Armstrong has always been a phenomenal defender and baserunner, but nobody expected the speedy 23-year-old to be having an incredible offensive season.

Crow-Armstrong has 25 home runs and 70 RBI while slashing .271/.309/.560 in 92 games this season, stealing 27 bases on 31 attempts as well.

His offensive outburst paired with his elite defense and base-stealing has him firmly in the Most Valuable Player race in the National League.

Speaking of elite defense, Crow-Armstrong should be well on his way to his first Gold Glove award and has a real shot at winning the NL Platinum Glove award.

Crow-Armstrong is second in MLB and first among outfielders in Defensive Runs Saved (15) and first among outfielders in Outs Above Average (15).

He is an integral part of the Cubs’ success this season and a huge reason for Chicago’s two-game lead over the Milwaukee Brewers for first place in the NL Central.
