All-America running back Roland Dempster headlines the Seawolves’ preseason honorees. A 2024 Walter Payton Award finalist, Dempster set the tone for a record-breaking campaign, finishing with 1,332 rushing yards and 19 total touchdowns. He averaged 111.0 rushing yards and 138.9 all-purpose yards per game, surpassed 100 rushing yards in seven contests, and became the first Stony Brook player since Miguel Maysonet (2011) to post three games with three rushing touchdowns. Dempster earned All-American honors from the Associated Press, Stats Perform, Phil Steele, and FCS Central, and ended the season ranked fourth in program history for most rushing yards in a single season and second in rushing touchdowns.
Up front, offensive lineman Niko Papic also landed a spot on the preseason team following a standout 2024 season. A Phil Steele All-CAA and All-CAA Third Team selection, Papic was one of only two players to start every game on the offensive line. He helped anchor a unit that improved its total offense by nearly 90 yards per game, including a jump from 104.1 to 170.3 rushing yards per game. The Seawolves led the CAA in time of possession and posted 100+ rushing yards in 10 of 12 games and 200+ passing yards in six contests.
