The new-look, expensive Texas Tech football team is set to make its season debut and score a win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff tonight in Jones AT&T Stadium.
Red Raider fans will get their first look at what a healthy quarterback Behren Morton and marquee transfer addition David Bailey can provide to Joey McGuire’s most expectation-filled season as head coach. Texas Tech believes it has the makings of a College Football Playoff team, and now it’s time to show it, starting against the Golden Lions.

10:31 p.m. — End of 3rd, Texas Tech 61, Arkansas-Pine Bluff 0. Golden Lions have 2nd and 4 at the Tech 15.
10:24 p.m. — Frenship freshman Leyton Stone gets his first two career catches, the second a 9-yard touchdown grab from Hammond. 61-0, 3:00 left in the third.
10:15 p.m. — Will Hammond takes it 64 yards up the gut for a touchdown. Red Raiders up 54-0, 6:28 left in the third (they’re playing two eight-minute quarters in the second half).
10:11 p.m. — Play is about to resume. Texas Tech will get the ball first.
Halftime — Texas Tech 47, UAPB 0
Stone Harrington kicked 31-yard field goal with 4:43 left in the first half, and Cameron Dickey added a 2-yard touchdown run at 1:21 before halftime, raising Texas Tech’s lead to 47-0.
The Red Raiders scored on all eight possessions in the first half: six touchdowns and two field goals. Dickey carried 12 times for 90 yards and J’Koby Williams six times for 56 yards.

7:51 p.m. — Sophomore running back J’Koby Williams bolted 5 yards for a touchdown off left end, hurdling a defender at the goal line. After the touchdown, Tech quarterback Behren Morton left the game. He’d taken a hit to the lower right leg the previous play, which appeared to roll his ankle.
7:27 p.m. — Texas Tech 30, UAPB 0
Coy Eakin catches a short pass over the middle from Behren Morton and breaks it for a 41-yard touchdown, increasing Texas Tech’s lead to 30-0 at 13:58 before halftime.
First quarter
715 p.m. — Texas Tech 23, UAPB 0
Terrance Carter Jr. catches a 9-yard touchdown pass from Behren Morton on third-and-2. The Red Raiders then line up with Carter as a wildcat-formation quarterback, and the Golden Lions stop him short on a two-point conversation attempt.
The touchdown was set up by an interception from cornerback Amier Boyd, a transfer from Texas-El Paso.
7:10 p.m. — Texas Tech linebacker Mike Dingle is helped off the field after covering a kickoff. Appeared to be his right knee.

Upton Bellenfant kicks a 39-yard field goal. It’s the first attempt for Bellenfant, who made 18 of 21 field goals last year for the University at Buffalo. So far, Stone Harrington has kicked extra points and field goals.
6:48 p.m. — Texas Tech 14, UAPB 0
6:48 p.m. — On the first play after a blocked punt, Texas Tech tight end Terrance Carter Jr. catches a 21-yard touchdown pass from Behren Morton. Red Raiders lead 14-0 at 10:12 in first quarter.
6:46 p.m. — Sophomore safety Mikal Harrison-Pilot blocks a UAPB punt, giving Texas Tech possession deep in Golden Lions territory.
6:39 p.m. — Texas Tech 7, UAPB 0
Texas Tech takes a 7-0 lead on a 9-yard touchdown pass to Reggie Virgil from Behren Morton. It caps a four-play drive after a short punt. UAPB’s first possession ended with a sack by defensive tackle Skyler Gill-Howard after edge defender David Bailey got quick pressure on third-and-long.

6:11 p.m. — Backup inside linebacker Wesley Smith suited up with what appears to be a padded cast on one hand.
6:10 p.m. — Based on pre-game warmup, Brice Pollock and Maurion Horn appear to be the starting cornerbacks. Amier Boyd and Horn were listed as co-first-team on the game-week depth chart.
6:08 p.m. — Working with the second-team offensive line are Vinny Sciury at left guard and Hunter Zambrano at right tackle. Both have missed a lot of practice over the past several months, but they are suited up for the opener.
5:59 p.m. — Texas Tech has released its pre-game player injury/availability report. All Tech players in the two-deep are available. Starting left guard Will Jados was questionable on the midweek report.
