The New York Yankees acquire third baseman Ryan McMahon from Colorado Rockies

The New York Yankees find themselves 4.5 games behind the red-hot Toronto Blue Jays as they start a weekend series at home against the Philadelphia Phillies.

New York has been discussed as a buyer at the 2025 MLB trade deadline. The first piece of the puzzle for the Yankees to improve their offense came on Friday afternoon.

The Yankees have acquired Ryan McMahon from the Colorado Rockies. Jeff Passan was the first to report the trade to the Bronx Bombers.

McMahon’s final game with the Rockies was on Wednesday, where he went 1-for-3 in a 6-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. On the season, the third baseman has played 100 games, for 350 at bats. His batting average is low, at .217, but his 16 homeruns on the season will help the Yankees offense.

Colorado will receive Griffin Herring, a lefthanded pitcher, and another minor league hurler.
