Top Picks for Tuesday 7/22/25

Bryan Armetta makes his DraftKings MLB Pick6 selections before Tuesday’s loaded 15-game MLB slate gets started.

Tuesday offers up a loaded 15-game MLB slate for baseball fans to dig into. Among the matchups to watch, another AL East showdown between the Yankees and Blue Jays is on tap in Toronto. Elsewhere, the Red Sox will attempt to earn a road win over the contending Phillies. Later tonight, the surging Brewers hope to clinch a series win over Cal Raleigh’s Mariners.

There’s plenty of ways to get in on Tuesday’s games with DraftKings MLB Pick6 fantasy baseball selections before tonight’s contests!

Oneil Cruz less than 1.5 hits + runs + RBIs

In spite of a solid pitching staff, the Pirates are once again a last place club. Pittsburgh’s biggest issues are at the plate, where the team has scored a league-worst 3.33 runs per game. Entering the season, Oneil Cruz was expected to carry an otherwise lackluster offense. Safe to say, things haven’t gone according to plan. Through 89 games, the center fielder is slashing .211/.314/.410.

As mediocre as Cruz has been, it’s been even more of a struggle recently. Since June 1st, the 26-year-old has recorded a batting average of just .187. Things won’t get any easier tonight against the Tigers and starter Casey Mize. The right-hander is enjoying a career-best campaign in 2025, notching a 3.15 ERA and 1.22 WHIP. In addition, left-handed batters are hitting just .227 against the hurler. At this point, any above-average arm poses a threat to Cruz’s ice-cold bat.

Kyle Hendricks more than 2.5 earned runs allowed

The Angels have hovered around .500 for most of the season. That’s due in large part to a homer-heavy offense; the team has been inconsistent on the mound. Kyle Hendricks, acquired this offseason, hasn’t been much more than an innings eater. This season, the longtime Cubs starter has posted a lackluster 4.88 ERA and 1.29 WHIP. While the veteran isn’t a complete scrub, it’s difficult to put much faith in him on any given night.

Tuesday’s matchup isn’t ideal for most pitchers, let alone Los Angeles’ soft-tosser. The Mets, despite a recent slump, remain one of baseball’s deepest lineups. Against right-handers, New York ranks fifth in OPS (.757). Hendricks is a different pitcher away from SoCal, as evidenced by his 5.40 road ERA. It’s difficult to envision a vintage performance from the former All-Star during tonight’s inter-league showdown.

Jacob deGrom more than 6.5 strikeouts thrown

During an otherwise frustrating season for the Rangers, Jacob deGrom has been a bright spot. The two-time Cy Young winner had been plagued by injuries for years. Now fully healthy, the righty is reminding the world that he’s still one of the best pitchers on Earth. Over 112.1 innings of work, the 37-year-old has accounted for a 2.32 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 113 strikeouts. On a per game basis, that’s 9.1 punch outs every nine innings.

For all their issues, the Athletics aren’t slouches on offense. This roster wields several dangerous young hitters. However, that inexperience often leads to over-eager swings. The A’s are striking out 8.58 times per game, the league’s 11th-highest mark. deGrom has hit seven or more K’s in three of his last five appearances. In addition, the veteran got seven whiffs when these two teams met in Texas on April 29th. Given how good the former All-Star has been this season, I’m willing to bank on another standout performance tonight.

Masyn Winn more than 2.5 hits + runs + RBIs

The formula here is pretty straightforward. Coors Field=offense. Still, it’s not as if anyone can come into Colorado and deliver a massive stat line. In that regard, Masyn Winn isn’t the first name one might think of on this Cardinals squad. The shortstop is slashing .269/.326/.389 with seven homers. Respectable numbers, but nothing that screams big day at the plate. Fortunately for St. Louis, the 23-year-old is hitting .295 over 15 games since the start of July.

Winn has put up at least three hits + runs + RBIs in four of his previous five outings. That bodes well for tonight’s game against Bradley Blalock and the Rockies. The 24-year-old pitcher is on the hook for an abysmal 9.97 ERA this season. Granted, the righty has only made four starts, but 21.2 innings isn’t the smallest sample size. During his last showing at Coors, Blalock surrendered a whopping 12 runs to the Padres. Keeping that in mind, it’s impossible not to expect another stellar showing from Winn and this Cardinals offense.

Cal Raleigh more than 0.5 hits

By now, even the most casual of baseball fans is aware of the season Cal Raleigh is putting together. The catcher leads the majors with 38 home runs, accompanied by a terrific .370 OBP and .613 slugging percentage. That level of first-half production, especially from a backstop, is historic. Unfortunately for Seattle’s superstar, Tuesday’s contest isn’t exactly hitter-friendly. Milwaukee’s Jacob Misiorowski has taken the baseball world by storm, recording a 2.81 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 33 strikeouts over five starts.

A fireballing All-Star at T-Mobile Park isn’t very conducive to offensive success. However, a deeper look under the hood shows some promising signs for Raleigh. Misiorowski throws either a fastball or slider on 78% of his pitches, per Baseball Savant. Raleigh is slugging a solid .564 and .605 on each pitch, respectively. I’m not expecting a monster output from Big Dumper, but one base hit feels more than likely.

Simeon Woods Richardson less than 3.5 strikeouts thrown

Some pitchers are just perfectly average; not a bad arm by any means, but far from ace status. That sentence sums up Twins hurler Simeon Woods Richardson to a tee this season. The right-hander has delivered a 3.95 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 62 strikeouts over 15 games. Despite being pulled quickly from most of his outings, the 24-year-old has allowed less than two runs in nearly half of his appearances.

Woods Richardson’s ERA has been kept manageable partially due to manager Rocco Baldelli’s quick hook. SWR has pitched six innings only once this entire season. A lengthy outing is unlikely tonight in Los Angeles. The Dodgers, despite some recent struggles, are baseball’s highest scoring offense. LA strikes out only 7.43 times per game when at home. That makes it difficult to envision four whiffs from Woods Richardson on Tuesday.
